Tip#876: Believe in Magic, Part 2 - She’s Funny That Way

I’m happy to say that during this summer my depression symptoms have dropped and remained very low. It could be because of the plenty of sunshine I’ve been getting as it relates to seasonal affective disorder (SAD). But I know that weekly interactions with other participants of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) program I’ve attended and now completed have helped (see tip#855, tip#863, #867, #874). In fact each person seemed to coincidentally add very specific insights to improving my mental health, well being and the rebuilding of my thought patterns!

Another fact that seemed to be ironic and coincidental was my computer dying and having to rebuild it on my new used laptop. This was so parallel to my experiences with CBT and the rebuilding of my mind. Along with making new friends from the program I really feel some sort of magic about my current journey in life. It could be the happy child in me but since it makes me feel good to believe it then I’ll take it! To me synchronicity, chance encounters and coincidences have always been magic!

She’s Funny That Way (2015)

The comedy film, She’s Funny That Way, is about a Call Girl named Isabella/Izzy/Glow (Imogen Poots) who triggers a series of hilarious situations, coincidences and chance encounters when hired by her client and Broadway director Arnold Albertson (Owen Wilson) to star in his latest play. This movie is in the style of a classic Hollywood screwball comedy and filled with many funny performances by Jennifer Aniston, Rhys Ifans, Kathryn Hahn and many other cameos. See: movie trailer

At the beginning of the film, Isabella is telling a reporter the story of how actress Lana Turner was discovered only to be corrected of the real facts of the discovery. Isabella responded saying “Yeah it doesn’t really have the same magic though.” This is what I’m resonating with these days. I'm feeling good and flowing with optimism and a sense of fun! And this film is flowing with fun too.

Movies can be a great source of fun, magic and laughter. No matter how silly they get let the cinema inspire you to just feel good about yourself and your life.
