Tip#460: Find Inner Peace Thanks to a Movie - Kung Fu Panda 2

"Remember dragon warrior, anything is possible when you have inner peace."
Kung Fu Panda 2

Surprisingly, the final Oprah Winfrey Show on May 25, 2011 featured no guests at all. And yet it was a deeply inspiring and emotional finale as Oprah simply stood on her stage sharing her heartfelt thanks to her fans around the world. What stood out were her very empowering insights of finding your purpose AND knowing your self-worth and worthiness.

See Oprah finale: Click here

Three days later I went to see a morning matinee screening of Kung Fu Panda 2 at the gorgeous AMC Yonge Dundas 24 Theatres in Toronto with a good friend. This film also surprised me with its own empowering messages of finding your inner peace AND figuring out who you are. These were wonderful tips for young and old coming from cartoon characters!

Kung Fu Panda 2 2011

The 3-D animated movie Kung Fu Panda 2 continues the adventures of Po (Jack Black) and fellow kung fu masters, the Furious Five as they take on an evil peacock named Lord Shen (Gary Oldman). During one initial battle with Shen's henchmen wolves, Po suddenly experiences childhood flashbacks which force him to question his true identity.

Thus in the midst of stunning 3-D fight sequences, breathtaking scenery and hilarious characters lies a movie about discovering one's self and finding inner peace. It is one of those juicy cinematic experiences that helps you escape the real world for awhile, be highly entertained and, if you are open, give you tips on finding a sense of calm within your chaotic life.

Poe learns how to calm his mind, go inward and find the answers he seeks. This is something I’ve learned how to do and I love that the importance of going inward is being shared in a major motion picture. Closing your eyes and consciously breathing in and out can do wonders. It allows you to tune out of the negative energy or noise around you and centre your mind like the eye of a hurricane. Within this eye it is quiet and safe. So whenever you find yourself distressed by life, work or relationships remember to breathe, close your eyes and go inward.

What movies bring you inner peace?

Do you have a favourite movie that brings you some inner peace? Is there a film that calms you when you are feeling agitated or stressed? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Tip#459: Manifesting Desires – Bedtime Stories

Today, after 25 years, The Oprah Winfrey Show will air its final episode. I didn't get that exciting call to be on today's show but deep down I knew it would be another day! Oprah's show is ending but she still has her OWN Network and therefore a whole other world of opportunities to meet her.

I still believe Oprah and I will connect. I would love to be her movie buddy! Over the years I've been learning to manifest the reality I want and so will continue to visualize the future I desire. Recently my LiveLighter/Writer Guru, Steph Miller posted a blog about manifesting desires and how she manifested something she wanted into her life. Read her blog: Here

Steph also featured me and referred to me as a "Master at Law of Attraction". And though I am honoured by the title I must share that, to me, the Master at Law of Attraction is my Money/Wealth Guru, Patrick Bizindavyi. He can manifest incredible things that will blow your mind! Check out his story of when he decided to get married and how the universe gave him everything he needed to fly from Toronto to Kigali Rwanda. Read his blog: Here

Bedtime Stories 2008

The comedy Bedtime Stories is about a hotel handyman named Skeeter (Adam Sandler) who tells bedtime stories to his niece and nephew that magically changes his life. Somehow when they add their ideas to his stories they manifest into reality. If the kids say it rains gumballs in the bedtime story the next day it rains gumballs on Skeeter!

I believe manifesting desires begins with being a kid again and remembering when all things were possible. It's about returning to a time when everything was just a game and we were in a state of play. It's about activating your imagination and BELIEVING that what you want is possible even if you currently cannot see it in front of you. Watching movies like Bedtime Stories and reading true stories like Steph's and Patrick's will help inspire you to manifest your own desires.

What movies inspire your imagination?

Tip#458: Seeking A Great Mentor – The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

This week has been a whirlwind of activity both with my inner thoughts about my big dreams and for amazing productivity in taking my motivational business to the next level. I could feel I was standing in front of two doors in front of me, one that some people were strongly suggesting I walk through and the other I believed was the right door for me at this time.

With the help of my life and career coaches they assisted in listening to my challenges and reminded me that in the end no one knows what I need better than me. I like to call these advisors my mini-mentors. And this week I was synchronistically led to a movie that gave me a magical message that I could use a new mentor in this exciting stage of my career.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice 2010

The fantasy adventure movie The Sorcerer's Apprentice about Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) an ancient sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan seeking the one person who will inherit the power of legendary wizard Merlin. He finally finds this person in a physics student named Dave (Jay Baruchel).

Balthazar immediately begins to train Dave in the art of sorcery. He passes on his knowledge, wisdom and experience so that Dave can activate and hone the skills already in his blood. Dave also learns by watching Balthazar's actions while in battle and soon begins to find success with his innate abilities. He is able conjure up powerful energy balls and protect himself from lethal sorcery attacks.

This movie motivated me to start seeking out a new mentor. It helped me visualize that I can accelerate my dreams and goals with the knowledge, wisdom and experience of a successful business person who has traveled the path that I was stepping on.

Who is your mentor or advisor?

Tip#457: Movie For A Rainy Day, Part 1 - Megamind

It's been raining for days here in Toronto and the darkness has been making me feel under the weather (pun intended!). I was also dealing with some terror barriers (see tip#453) about my recent press release for the last Oprah Show (see tip#456). My prescription to myself was to step away from my woes and watch a fun, uplifting movie!

I always trust my intuition when it comes to choosing a movie from the vast library of films on this planet. I was surprised that I chose a film I originally had no interest in seeing in the theatres. Even though it had themes I loved liked superheroes there wasn't a green light until now to see Megamind.

Megamind 2010

The animated movie Megamind is about a super-intelligent alien named Megamind (Will Ferrell) whose purpose in life is questioned when he finally defeats his nemesis and superhero named Metro Man (Brad Pitt). Megamind becomes depressed because being a villain meant nothing if there is no one there to stop him. So he decides to create a superhero he could continue with his purpose.

What was motivational about this movie? Well it helped me escape from the dark rainy day for a few hours. It helped put a smile on my face and laugh out loud. It helped me feel good when I was feeling under the weather. In the end, the fun, witty characters and the colourful visuals recharged all my senses.

What is a rainy day movie for you?

Do you have a favourite rainy day movie? Do you have a film you like to watch when you are feeling under the weather? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below OR click on the blog title above and scroll to bottom.

Tip#456: Believe Anything Is Possible – The Oprah Show Underdog - The Pursuit of Happyness

Knowing that May 25th is Oprah's last show inspired me to relook at the New York Times article, "Who Will Be Oprah's Last Star?" where I was featured (see article). I realized I was the underdog in the article AND the only Canadian featured. I always wanted to use this article to help inspire others to believe anything was possible and that's when I had an AHA moment!

Excitedly, I decided to do a press release with the help of my "LiveLighter/Writer Guru", Steph Miller. She wrote it with enthusiasm and came up with the headline: OPRAH'S LAST SHOW: WILL CANADA'S MOVIES THAT MOTIVATE EXPERT BE A FINAL GUEST? Underdog In NY Times Article, Toronto Movie Blogger & Motivational Speaker, Emmanuel Lopez-Motivatorman, Remains In The Running

Download Press Release Here

My goal is to be able to share my story of how movies helped empower me to stay positive and productive during my recent adversities. I want to share with the media how I found the vision and courage to deal with my bankruptcy and losing my home in 2010. At the same time I want to share how others can tap into their own inner strengths through the power of movies.

The Pursuit of Happyness 2006

Based on a true story, The Pursuit of Happyness shows how Chris Gardner (Will Smith) believed that anything was possible. The movie depicts many scenes that seemed unbelievable but were true such as Gardner and his young son sleeping on the bathroom floor of a subway station while homeless.

One scene that was shocking but true was Gardner showing up underdressed for his meeting with stock brokerage firm Dean Witter. It seemed impossible that Gardner would be accepted for the training process wearing a Members Only jacket and paint speckled sneakers but he did.

Help Get My Message Out

I believe anything is possible and I hope you do too. Some of the greatest movies are about the underdog and I believe I'm an underdog for being in the New York Times article AND appearing in the last Oprah Show. If you'd like to support my dream and you have a media contact, please forward my press release to them: Download Press Release

I am also documenting this grassroots process of who is helping me get my message out so others can learn how to use social media to make their own dreams come true. It's all about expressing the excitement of what you desire to the world. Do it online or in every day conversations. Someone will believe in you and do what they can to help. Express your dream or goals to someone today!

Tip#455: What is Your Big Hairy Audacious Goal? – Fast Five - Thor

Last week I attended 3 amazing personal and professional development seminars that had me thinking about what the big picture is for my purpose in life. This is a great exercise to do every several years and I discovered I'm still learning to define my ultimate dream, goal and desire for my life and career.

Stephen Covey, author of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People says, "Begin With The End In Mind" which has been a great tip to follow. There is also a business building term called Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) that can help you think about the most exciting outcome AND vision you could have for your career, business and life.

My BHAG has been to produce a 24/7 online resource of all the movies I've blogged about that have inspired me to persevere in my work and life challenges. It would also feature myself interviewing the actors, writers and directors of these films and get their thoughts on the movie heroes they played and how they've made a positive impact on people. All this would be designed to help people around the world feeling lost, hopeless and alone in their own struggles!

Whatever process you follow to help you define what you want in life, knowing what the big picture is helps you create a target to aim for. I recently did a double bill and received synchronistic messages from each film reminding me to "begin with the end in mind".

Fast Five 2011

The movie Fast Five continues it's franchise series of hot cars, hot girls, buff guys and over the top action sequences. In this chapter the anti-heroes Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) plan an audacious heist in Rio, Brazil. The empowering movie message I received was that these characters had a Big Hairy Audacious Goal and created an action plan to achieve it. I took the excitement of this movie and injected it into feeling out what my BHAG really is.

Thor 2011

The movie Thor is a comic book film about legendary warrior Thor (Chris Hemsworth) who is banished to Earth and stripped of his superpowers by his father King Odin (Anthony Hopkins). What is later revealed is that Odin had a bigger picture and goal in mind for Thor. The film is based on the Marvel Comics version and is part of a series of superhero movies (Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Captain America) all leading to the upcoming Avengers movie. This again is a fantastic example of a Big Hairy Audacious Goal for a number of movie franchises to merge over the span of many years.

Recently I was helped with my BHAG by holistic practitioner business coach Daniel Chiang. He helped me see that one of my BHAG’s was to be Oprah’s movie buddy. The thought was exciting and scary at the same time! And maybe that’s the point. It's really about remaining OPEN to all the biggest, most thrilling desires you can dream for yourself!

What's your big hairy audacious goal?

What is something you've always dreamed that is massive? What is a desire that is so big you can't even say out loud? Have some fun right now and share it now! Please share your thoughts in the comment section below OR click on the blog title above and scroll to bottom.

Tip#454: Is Your Mom A Superhero? - The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio

My Mom is a superhero! I created my Motivatorman title for my professional speaking services because I have a passion for superheroes. I absolutely loved my superhero comics growing up! I loved my Marvel Comics like X-Men, Spider-Man and The Avengers while from the DC Universe, Batman, Superman and Green Lantern. Little did I know at the time that my mother was a real-life superhero!

My Mom, along with my Dad, FULLY encouraged ALL my creative talents in art, music and film-making growing up. She cheered me on when I gave my valedictorian speech in high school. She celebrated with me when I opened my own business. And she was there for me 100% during my intense collapse of my finances last year and helped me pack my remaining belongings as I lost my home of 15 years.

I remember it was many years ago when I began to recognize my Mom's superhero powers when she was diagnosed with incurable rheumatoid arthritis. It was painful to witness her body breaking down. She refused to accept her condition and miraculously overcame her debilitating condition with acupuncture and other alternative medicines.

Then I truly saw my Mom's strength when she remained strong at the funeral of her Father's passing and then, without warning, her husband would die 2 months later. My Dad's passing was just before Christmas. My Mom's resilience and perseverance was truly of epic proportions during this dark time for us all.

The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio 2005

Based on a true story, the movie The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio is about housewife Evelyn Ryan (Julianne Moore) who helps support her family of 10 children by winning entries in jingle-writing contests. Evelyn displays amazing optimism and resilience during her financial challenges in the 1950's and 60's. Her strength was inspiring to see over the years of her story. See: movie trailer

I was surprised to have discovered this DVD in a clearance bin and had never heard of this glorious gem of a movie. Seeing Evelyn have fun writing her jingles and loving her family had me thinking about my own Mom throughout the entire film. This movie hero not only inspired me deeply it helped me appreciate my own Mom on even higher levels. And since she reads my blogs, I want the world to hear me say "I LOVE YOU MOM WITH ALL MY HEART! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!"

Is your Mom a superhero too?

Tip#453: Break Through the Terror Barrier – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

I am still absorbing the enormous amount of information that was provided on the weekend workshop I attended called Publish Your Way to Profits. Best selling author and publisher Gerry Robert loaded us all with incredible tips and methods for writing, funding and marketing a book. I plan to share more of what I learned in upcoming blog posts.

If you've been reading this blog since 2007 then you'll know that seeing Chris Gardner speak live about his book The Pursuit of Happyness inspired me to write a book based on this blog (see tip#40). It is 4 years later and this is still my goal despite multiple reasons that it is not here yet.

One of the insights that came up about my situation in the workshop was about the Terror Barrier. Motivational speaker and best selling author Bob Proctor says, "The Terror Barrier comes up in front of us every time we attempt to make a major move in life, into an area we have never traveled before."

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 2010

In the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) continues to persevere towards his quest to destroy Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). Throughout the 7 movies Potter faced one Terror Barrier after another. The images and creatures he faced were extremely frightening in some situations. Each time he learned more about his own inner fears and how to overcome them. These challenges ended up helping Potter be more confident in who he is and what his purpose is.

See movie trailer for Part 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Click here

Potter is one movie hero helping me break through my own Terror Barriers about publishing a book. He is inspiring me to look inward and overcome my blocks. I've already written 3 drafts of my book. Two drafts have been edited by professional editors. What I learned from the weekend workshop is to FULLY COMMIT to my vision of a published book. One recommended step was to put Author in my email signature. It is done and I've also added it to my signature below!
